In 2010 Richard Golding, founder of Okra Glass, set up Station Glass in the wonderful grade two listed station at the Shenton end of the Shackerstone Preserved Railway line.

The glass studio at the Station comes thirty years after Richard built his first studio at Lightwater Valley in Yorkshire and launched Okra Glass with Nicola Osborne.

Richard`s reputution for producing stunning designs, quality glass and beautiful pieces of art has grown over the years. His move to the Station will allow him to finally give rein to his full artistic talents and to live at home in Market Bosworth.

Richard is internationally renowned for his glassmaking designs, technical skills, use of colour and iridescence. His art and ways of working are highly regarded by artists and collectors across the world. Richard has pushed forward the boundaries of glass technolgy and design in a way that delivers beautiful pieces at affordable prices as simply as possible.

Over the years Richard has moved studio many times. Station Glass is his eighth studio and first ever gallery. It promises to be the place where his best work flows and he can indulge his passion for sharing the joy of glassmaking with Friends and visitors.

Shenton Station - Home of Richard Golding at Station Glass

The Station was originally sited on the Humberstone Road in Leicester. It was falling into disrepair and road improvements put the building at risk.

Leicestershire County Council bought the Station for £1.00 in around 1992 and, with lots of help, moved it brick by brick to Shenton Station where it was lovingly restored. It is a fitting home for Richard`s eigth studio and first ever gallery.
